Horse racing industry in trouble? Good. Maybe those poor horses can finally have a break from being whipped around a track for our entertainment. 🐴
Yeah nah, the real threat is the cost of living. Who can afford to keep a thoroughbred when rent's gone up $200 a week?
More than 500 breeders left in a decade? Wonder why. Probably because the whole industry's a dying relic that only boomers care about.
Typical. Always about chasing money but then complain when the industry dies.
It's sad really. My granddad used to breed horses. Now it's just too expensive and the young ones aren't interested. Another kiwi tradition gone.
change mate. Some things deserve to fade out if they're cruel.

Wait, so less horses being born means less racing? Doesn't that just mean we need to start racing sheep? 😂
racing? Honestly probably more fun and less cruel. Sign me up 😂
As someone who's worked at a stud farm, these numbers are worrying. It's not just about racing - these are livelihoods and beautiful animals.
people have been saying 'tradition' for decades while the rest of us move on. Get with the times.
Maybe if they stopped gambling on everything we'd have less problems. The whole industry is built on gambling addiction tbh.
and what about the horses? They didn't ask to be bred just to race.
Honestly who cares? Let the horses free and find something better to do with your time than watch animals run in circles.
My neighbour's a breeder and they're struggling. Feels like no one cares about rural industries anymore.
who say 'let them free' have clearly never worked with horses. They'd be dead in a year without proper care.
