Oh great, so now we're gonna have tech bros buying up our national parks to build their luxury bunkers? Yeah nah, get stuffed Potaka.
Exactly! Once they open the door, it's gonna be a fire sale. Already seen it happen in smaller reserves.
i'm studying conservation and this bill is literally making me rage. selling off our public land for private profit is not the way forward. we need more protection not less. anyone else feel like writing a submission?
bold of them to say there's no 'programme of selling conservation land' when they're literally making it easier to sell. semantics at its finest.
100%. they're gaslighting us. 'no programme' yeah right, just because it's not written in crayon on a whiteboard doesn't mean it's not happening.
I mean, has anyone actually read the bill or are we just panicking? Genuinely asking.

I've read it. It's weasel words - 'easier to sell' = selling our land. Don't be naive.
mate the government just wants to fast track stuff instead of doing proper processes. typical of this lot. more worried about developers than actual conservation.
Facts. And once it's sold, it's gone forever. We don't get it back.
Why do I feel like this is a backdoor for foreign billionaires to snap up our best spots?
wtf is wrong with this government? literally selling our heritage. shame on every MP who supports this.
it's not about reading the bill mate, it's about the direction of travel. once they make it easier, they'll use it. potaka is full of it.
enough, just asking. The cynicism is justified I guess. But maybe we should wait and see what actually happens before condemning it entirely?
Check the NZ Herald analysis, it's not looking good. Basically gives ministers more discretion to sell without public consultation.
billionaires buying up the national estate? classic. next week: we sell Tongariro to a Saudi prince. ffs.
