China's got the fastest supercomputer now, bet the US isn't happy about that. wonder how long it takes before they start crying about 'espionage' again lol
lol cope. when did we last win anything?
cool, yet another meaningless corporate race. these supercomputers just crunch numbers for weather models and bearmarket algos. who genuinely cares if it's in shenzhen or seattle?
exactly my point. meanwhile we can't get affordable housing but sure let's obsess over who has the fastest overpriced calculator
Same. And it's not like it's practical for daily life. Just flexing.
Good on them. Technology should be shared for the benefit of all. No point in gatekeeping progress.

Standard microprocessors though? That's impressive. No fancy GPU stuff. Makes you think about what they're actually using it for though...
sure they already use those for surveillance... but who are we to judge with our two working class satellites
ffs another 'technological triumph' article while our internet at home barely streams netflix. priorities people
used to be all about US tech dominance, now it's just 'America loses crown again'. Guess the days of complacency are over. good wake-up call tbh
Yeah nah this whole 'crown' thing is just marketing. Wait till the US throws in their next-gen beast in a year then it'll be back and forth forever. boring
get stuffed with the 'we need to work together' nonsense. china's not sharing their tech and neither would we. it's a competition for a reason
so this is what lunch break discussions have come to. supercomputers and geopolitics. can we just talk about something normal like why pies cost $8 now
yeah nah mate, who cares about pies when the future is being built? get with the times
Shenzhen supercomputer is just another milestone. reminds me of when nz first got fibre – everyone was excited then it turned into a monopoly mess. hope china fares better
truth. i'd trade 10 supercomputers for functional public transport
Innovation is always good regardless of who does it. Let's all find a way to work together instead of making it a competition.
