Another gutless decision from NZR. Moana Pasifika brought so much heart and talent to the comp, but nah, let's just kill it off because it doesn't make enough money for the suits. Absolute disgrace. This is why rugby is dying in the Pacific.
if Moana can't fill a stadium that's not NZR's fault. It's a business at the end of the day.
Yeah nah, saw this coming a mile away. Sad for the fans but it just wasn't sustainable. Gotta be realistic.
real. If they couldn't pay the bills, they had to go. Simple as that. No one's entitled to a super rugby spot.
So we drop the only team that actually represents the Pacific islands, but keep the Crusaders who win every year? Nice one NZR. Great look.
cope. Crusaders fans love pretending it's not a one team comp.

ffs, just what Super Rugby needed. Another team gone. Might as well rename it Super Canterbury at this rate.
Worked in rugby admin for years. This is a money call pure and simple. Moana couldn't draw crowds or sponsors. Love the idea but it was bleeding cash.
Devastating for the Pasifika community. These players are role models and now they lose the platform. Short-sighted rubbish from NZR.
but they never got the same marketing or time slots. It was set up to fail lol
Another nail in the coffin for rugby in NZ. Kids growing up now don't even care about Super Rugby. They're all watching league or footy.
the licenses were on loan from NZR. Moana never owned them. NZR can do whatever they want with their own property.
Exactly! They didn't even try. Just another example of the Auckland-centric NZR ignoring the provinces and the Pacific.
Didn't they just expand a couple years ago? Now they're cutting. Classic NZR, no long term plan at all.
