Right, so they get slapped with a $100m fine and their first move is to can a bunch of staff? Classic corporate logic – fuck over the little guys who had nothing to do with it.
yeah nah get stuffed. they probably deserved the fine but now the workers cop it. typical.
As someone in the industry, this is just a shakeout. Tiger Brokers expanded way too fast. The fine hurts but cutting headcount is the quickest way to stabilise. Sucks but it's the reality of finance.
yeah listen to this guy defending the corp. must be one of the execs 😂
lol imagine working your ass off for months and waking up to 'sorry ur job is gone cos we got fined' – I'd be absolutely fuming
my thoughts. They'll be fine, the workers won't.

Anyone else think this is just the beginning? More brokers gonna get raked over the coals soon. FMA's on a power trip.
But what about the Chinese regulators? They've been all over foreign brokers for years. NZ just catching up.
$100m fine and they're still operating? That's pocket change to them. But staff cuts? That's how they make that money back – on the backs of Kiwis. Disgusting.
nah mate they've been cooking the books for years. should have been shut down.
Used them once, got shit execution. Won't be shedding a tear.
how they never cut exec bonuses though eh?
Morning coffee and reading about more people losing jobs. Great start to the day. This country's a joke sometimes.
defending, just saying it's how the game works. But yeah, sucks for the workers.
I mean... they broke the rules. Fine was coming. But the staff cuts are a punch in the gut for those families. Hope they get decent redundancy.
didn't even know they were nz owned lol thought it was some aussie outfit
