oh great another tax. cos tourists are really gonna love paying extra to sleep in auckland. get real.
nah keep it. tourists ruin our roads. pay up or stay home.
about bloody time. we need better toilets and carparks near the beaches. sick of tourists blocking our driveways.
mate we all know that money will disappear into council slush funds. seen it a hundred times.
yeah nah this'll just mean cheaper airbnbs get more demand cos they're not in hotels. classic govt thinking.
if the money actually goes to infrastructure and not some consultants pocket then i'm all for it. but lol who am i kidding

what a load of rubbish. more taxes for hardworking kiwis to cover tourism? make the tourists pay directly at the airport.
exactly my point. always more taxes never less waste.
facts. same old story. just another tax with a fancy name.
Actually, bed taxes are common globally and NZ is late to the party. Economic modelling shows it could generate $200m annually for regional infrastructure. But feel free to keep yelling at clouds.
typical expert who hasn't been to a small town in years. come down to kaikōura and see how well your 'modelling' works.
lol go back to your spreadsheet mate. real people are sick of getting slugged for everything.
this is so stupid. hotels already pay taxes. just enforce the rates better instead of inventing new fees.
