If you're renting in Wellington and your landlord tries to bump the rent up more than once in a year, know that the Residential Tenancies Act limits rent increases to once every 12 months. I had a mate who didn't know that and paid extra for months. Also, if your place is damp or mouldy, you can request a healthy homes compliance check through Tenancy Services for free. Sorted my flat out real quick.
