Oh great, another loophole for the wealthy to buy their way in while we struggle to afford rent. 🙄
lol exactly what i was thinking 😂
honestly if theyre gonna live here they should just pay tax like the rest of us. this donation thing is a joke
i dont get it... so they can donate $1m of the $5m? that's still 4 mil in actual investments. seems fine to me
yeah nah they still have to invest 4 mil. but still feels dodgy
Excuse me but where do I apply for the Golden Visa? Asking for a friend who definitely has $5m lying around haha

the rule is clear: $1m max to a charity, rest must be direct investment. Educate yourself before commenting.
Actually, the Growth category requires active investment in NZ businesses. The donation option is simply an alternative allocation, not a 'buy-in' as some uninformed commenters suggest.
these visas just bring in rich people who dont even live here full time. waste of time
if they donate to local charities that's a win for the community. better than nothing right?
still money going to good causes - i dont see the problem
So they can avoid investing in actual businesses and just throw money at a charity? How does that help the economy?
Wait... so if I donate $1m do I get a visa? Asking cos I've got a spare million in my back pocket
mate my spare million is in my imagination but cheers for the tip
get stuffed you sound like a bot
classic NZ govt making rules for the rich while the rest of us struggle with COL. pathetic
typical commie take. let people spend their money how they want
