So thousands of cows were 'living' on a suburban lawn? Sounds like someone's been hitting the sauce a bit hard at the council.
get stuffed mate, the council can't check every backyard
As someone who works in the industry, this tracing system has been a joke for years. The fact they couldn't even get a conviction shows how broken it is. ffs.
nah exactly, the system's been broken for years and nobody cares until it hits the news
studying this stuff at uni and like… how do you even lose track of that many animals? this is insane haha
This is what happens when you let the big farmers run the show. The system is rigged and the little guys get screwed. Bloody disgrace.

Typical. The directors walk away scot-free and the taxpayer foots the bill for the court case. What a load of crap.
oooof that username checks out
Honestly, does anyone actually trust MPI to enforce anything? They're about as useful as a chocolate teapot.
facts. all bark no bite with those guys
i work on a farm and this is just embarassing. we tag everything properly, step up MPI ffs
same. it's a joke how little oversight there actually is
Poor judge probably had a headache from all the paperwork. Hope the cows are okay wherever they ended up.
if the system can be rorted this easily, it's not a system. it's a suggestion. time for an overhaul
lol imagine if someone tried this with dog registration, they'd be fined into oblivion
Auckland council probably approved the subdivision without even checking. Typical bureaucratic nightmare.
