Actually, compulsory KiwiSaver has significant long-term benefits. Studies show that default enrollment dramatically increases retirement savings. The average New Zealander simply cannot be trusted to save voluntarily.

I don't mind the idea but 3% is already low, if they make it compulsory they'll probably hike it to 6% or something

as a student this would be rough, I need every dollar for rent and food rn, no spare cash to lock away for 40 years
