Oh man, this is rough. Stay safe everyone, and don't be an idiot with water use. Fill your buckets but don't go washing your car in a crisis 🙏
classic council reaction: wait til it's a full crisis then tell us to turn off the taps. maybe if they'd done some proper firebreaks in the dry months we wouldn't be here
ffs, another summer of this. i'm a farmer and we've been watching the ground crack for weeks. councils do nothing until the flames are licking your fence. water restrictions are a joke when you lose a paddock.
yeah nah mate, farmers are always the first to feel it. hope your place is alright.
anyone know where the fires are exactly? driving from chch to kaikoura tomorrow and hoping the road's still open...
state highway 1 was fine when i came through this arvo, but check the fb page before you leave

turn off the sprinklers and get a rain tank like the rest of us. water restrictions every bloody summer and people still watering their lawns
wake me up when the council actually does something useful instead of just telling us to save water. every year the same crap.
classic armchair expert. the fire crews are doing their best in conditions that are getting worse every year. maybe blame the people who keep voting against climate action?
you can't help but wonder how much of this is 'natural disaster' and how much is just poor planning and climate stuff. but go off, keep blaming the firefighters.
yeah true, but we're all in this together. no point screaming at each other while the hills burn.
