Oh yeah Andrew Hoggard, the guy who couldn't stop a possum from sneezing near a kauri tree. We're so prepared 😐
Exactly. The plan is probably just 'pray and panic'. Same as always.
Good to hear we've got a plan. But I'll believe it when I see the first test result come back clean.
Work in poultry. We've had biosecurity drills every month for a year. No one outside the industry knows how serious this is. Yeah, we're as ready as we can be tbh.
on you mate. Thanks for the insight — better than the spin from the minister.
Hope they're not just polishing the same old plan from the covid playbook. Remember how that went?

nah, this is a different beast. Covid was a surprise. We've had years to get ready for bird flu.
ffs the media just loves fear mongering. Bird flu is gonna kill us all apparently. Meanwhile my biggest concern is whether the supermarket has chicken on special.
We've been told we're 'prepared' for so many things. Climate change, earthquakes, pandemics. Still living in leaky houses. Get stuffed.
lol chicken on special, that's all that matters. But seriously, this is gonna wreck the poultry industry if it hits.
It's good they're being proactive. My daughter works in a vet clinic and they've had extra training for this. Better safe than sorry.
Prepare for what exactly? Border security lets everything through anyway. Seen the state of Auckland's biosecurity at the airport? A joke.
on. The airport is a sieve. But the farms themselves have upped their game massively. It's the wild birds I worry about.
Remember when we were 'prepared' for the RHDV2 outbreak? Didn't stop it spreading like wild fire. Just saying.
RHDV2 was rabbits though. Birds are a whole other level. But yeah, history doesn't inspire confidence.
