Typical Kāinga Ora – build crap, expect families to be grateful. This is what happens when you contract the cheapest builders.
right. Build cheaper = more houses on paper. But they're useless. Phuket build quality.
We looked at a Kāinga Ora house last year. Mould everywhere, gaps in the windows, wiring hanging out. Wouldn't put a dog in it tbh.
nah get stuffed. This isn't a one-off – it's the whole system. They need a complete overhaul.
Honestly heartbreaking. That family just wanted a safe place for their kids and this is what they get. Where's the accountability?
don't care. It's all about numbers on a spreadsheet. Families are just statistics to them.

ffs how is this even legal? 'Uninhabitable' means you can't live there. But Kāinga Ora says 'move in or you're homeless'. Great system.
100% agree. If it was a minister's relative, they'd have a warm dry home tomorrow. Double standards.
My mate works for a housing trust and says Kāinga Ora standards are a joke. They pass inspections that would fail a basic rental check. Unreal.
so true. private rentals have higher standards sometimes. it's backwards
sometimes i wonder if they actually care or if it's just box-ticking. this family deserves way better
Praying for this whānau. No one should have to choose between homelessness and a house that makes you sick.
of seeing vulnerable families treated like this. Stand with this family ❤️
Send this to Fair Go. Maybe then someone with power will actually do something.
Go would laugh at this. They've seen it all before. Nothing changes cos nobody in power actually lives in these houses.
