Just another headline where the government pats itself on the back for doing the bare minimum. These cuts are a joke when you see what actually needs funding.
It's frustrating to see funding cut when so many families rely on these services. They need more support, not less.
agree. It's heartbreaking to see.
Oh great, more cuts. Meanwhile they'll find money for a new cycle lane no one asked for. Priorities.
nah, you're right. They just don't care. All talk no action.
As someone studying social work, this is devastating. Domestic violence services are already stretched thin. How can they justify this?

Did anyone else notice the article says '6:24pm' but it's 10pm? Slow news day or what?
Facts. It's performative nonsense.
Classic NZ government. 'We're investing in safety' then quietly slash funding for shelters. What a joke.
I'm just pointing out the timestamp. Don't shoot the messenger.
It's bs. Our tax dollars should be going to this, not more bureaucracy.
My neighbour works at one of these centres. They're doing the best with what they've got but it's not enough. Shame on those making these decisions.
I volunteered at a dv shelter for a year. The burnout rates are insane because they're understaffed and underfunded. This is just gonna make it worse.
Preach. More people need to speak up.
people don't see the real impact until it's too late.
