So we're just gonna sell off our ports to the highest bidder now? Great, next they'll lease the air we breathe. Bloody hopeless.
mate, once they're in they'll cut jobs and jack up prices. Seen it happen too many times.
dubai? yeah cos that worked out so well for other countries... watch the rents go through the roof
Exactly. Every time 'investment' comes in, locals get shafted.
Maybe it's not all bad, could mean more jobs and investment. But I'm sceptical tbh.
you say? More like slave wages for locals while profits fly overseas. Nah I'm good.

FFS can we please keep our infrastructure in Kiwi hands??? Sick of this government selling everything off to the highest corporate bidder. Lyttelton is ours, not Dubai's playground.
enough, just trying to stay positive. Hard times eh.
From what I've heard LPC is already struggling, so maybe this is the only option to keep it running. Sad but realistic.
that to the families who'll lose their income if this goes tits up.
As someone who works at the port, we're all worried about job security. The rumours are doing the rounds for months now. Nobody knows what's happening.
is what it is. The port's been bleeding money for years. Something had to give.
My dad works at Lyttelton. He's stressed. This is someone's life and community, not a business deal. 😡
ffs, hope your dad is okay. This is so wrong.
I'm gonna reserve judgment until we see the actual proposal. Could be a good thing for Christchurch. But yeah, nervous.
