Great, another bloody reef for tourists to gawk at while the fishing industry gets shafted. Bet the council spent a fortune on this stunt.
bet you'd rather they just dumped it in the ocean like everything else aye mate
typical, someone always crying about costs. it's a bit of heritage and it helps the bay. stop moaning
honestly kinda cool though, a 60 year old boat getting a second life as a dive spot. way better than rusting in a scrap yard
So sad to see her go but what a beautiful farewell with the karanga. Best way to go out 🙏
oh great another thing for divers to get tangled in. just leave the ocean alone ffs

lol bet the boat's worth more as a reef than the 50 bucks they prob got for scrap. classic nz bureaucracy
yeah nah the scrap value would have been pittance. at least this way it's useful for the marine life
ffs Napier harbour already looks like a parking lot without this ugly thing. good riddance i say
hope the fish actually use it and it doesn't just become another tourist trap with rusty metal everywhere
Beautiful ceremony. Respect to the local iwi for doing the karanga. Nice to see something done properly for once.
hopefully more fish than the cowpatty they left out by the wharf last year haha
So how much did this 'artificial reef' cost ratepayers? Asking for a mate who's sick of council wasting money.
drove past this morning and saw the crowds. didnt realise it was the last trip. kind of emotional actually
