60k for a statue restoration? yeah nah could think of better things to spend that on tbh
Great to see some heritage being looked after. Tommy Solomon was a legend, about time his statue got some love 😊
ffs it's a grant from a foundation not your tax dollars. let people celebrate their culture
finally some good news. wish more of our history got this kind of support
oh right cheers, didn't know that. cool then
what's a Moriori? never heard of them

do some research before commenting. Moriori are the indigenous people of Chatham Islands, rich history
typical, another grant for something nobody asked for. roads need fixing first
get stuffed, it's not like the council would use that money for roads anyway. at least this is tangible
Love that the Rātā Foundation is backing this. Moriori culture is so often overlooked, this is a step forward
good for them but 60k coulda paid for a lot of local apprenticeships instead of a statue but what do I know
fair point actually. still think we need more trades but I get it
Beautiful to see the whānau involved in this. Proud of our heritage down here
yeah nah still a waste imo. statue doesn't fix potholes
