The left loves to cancel anyone with a slightly different opinion, but the right does it too, just under a different flag. Both sides are killing free speech, just in different ways.
mate, comparison is just lazy.
Free speech is just a concept now. You say one thing that isn't 100% approved by the mob and you lose your job, your friends, your reputation. It's a bloody joke.
So Peter Greste spent 400 days in an Egyptian prison for reporting the truth, and we're worried about Twitter mobs? Priorities, people.
Both sides are guilty, but let's not pretend actual state-sponsored censorship like in Egypt is the same as someone getting ratio'd on social media.
mobs destroy people's lives. It's not just 'ratio'd', it's real damage. But I get your point.

Nobody actually wants free speech, they just want the right to say whatever they want without consequence. Can't have it both ways.
consequences are fine. But getting fired for a joke? That's not 'consequence', that's witch hunt.
The real threat to free speech is corporate media owning the narrative, not some randoms on Facebook. Wake up sheep.
calling media sheep is a bit rich. But I guess you'd cancel me for that opinion too?
Peter Greste's story is terrifying. But let's not act like cancel culture isn't a real problem here too. I've seen people lose livelihoods over a tweet from 2012.
The comments here are a perfect example of cancel culture in action. Everyone so quick to jump down each other's throats.
true. But gotta live and let live, not everything has to be a crusade.
Free speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences. But the consequences these days are extreme and disproportionate. We need a middle ground.
ground? In THIS economy? Good luck.
The mob on the left cancels you for wrongthink. The mob on the right cancels you for being 'woke'. Either way, you're silenced.
both mobs are bloody awful. Can't we all just get along and have a beer?
