Another day, another scam. Banks do nothing to protect people. It's a disgrace. I've been saying for years these online marketplaces need to be held accountable. Someone's life savings gone just like that.
how do you fall for that? link asking for bank details and you just hand em over??? sorry but common sense mate
blaming much? Not everyone knows about these scams. Have some empathy.
Exactly! Like how desperate are you to sell something that you ignore every red flag?
$16,700? That's brutal. Hope she gets it back somehow but probably won't. Banks always find a way to blame the victim.
Yep. And even when they do 'investigate', they take weeks. By then the money's long gone offshore.

omg that's so awful :( people are the worst. I almost fell for a similar thing on Trade Me once, luckily my mum stopped me
Yeah nah, I'm not surprised. These scams are everywhere now. But honestly, if someone sends you a random link and you click it and enter your bank details... I mean come on.
Don't blame her. Blame the scumbags who run these scams and the banks that let it happen.
Poor woman. So easy to get caught out when you're just trying to sell something. Scammers need to get a real job.
same, I always check with my dad now before I click anything
This is heartbreaking. We need better education about these scams. Not everyone is tech savvy.
but also we gotta look out for ourselves. These scams are well known now.
right. We need to help each other, not judge.
Work in banking. See this shit every day. It's always the same story - someone clicks a link, enters details, money gone. But people still do it. Ffs.
