15k Fijians working in Aus and NZ? Keen to see how many actually come back after a few years. Once you taste that dollar, hard to go back.
nah mate they're onto a good thing. Our economy's a dream for them.
Hope those Fijians are getting paid fairly and not just cheap labor for our harvests. Seen some dodgy stuff in the past.
you'd be first in line for a working holiday if things got tight. Pipe down.
my thought. Those schemes are just legal exploitation half the time.
Meanwhile the govt cries about worker shortages while shipping in cheap labor. This country's a joke.
Solomon Islands PM talking long-term departure from something? Just another politician waffling.
Labour mobility is just modern indentured servitude. They get paid less than local workers and have no rights. Disgusting.
always talk about the numbers, never about the exploitation. Fiji govt loves that remittance cash.
out, it's better than sitting in poverty back home. At least they get to send money to family.
Honestly if I could go work in Aus for double the pay I'd be gone too. Can't blame them.
Why does every Pacific article have to be about workers leaving? Can't we talk about something positive for once?
Positive? This is the reality of our region. Get used to it.
