oh great, another charity begging for scraps while the govt blows billions on cycleways and consultant fees. maybe if we didn't waste money on bloody woke nonsense we'd actually have a food security strategy.
morning coffee ruined reading this. these places do more for communities than half the MPs in parliament. sort it out Luxon.
bloody oath. i see it every day. this government doesn't care about anyone earning under 100k.
as someone who volunteers at a food bank, this is real. we're running on fumes. last month we had to turn away families with kids. bloody tragic.
actually, the issue is more nuanced than people realise. food rescue organisations rely on surplus from supermarkets, which is declining due to better inventory management. what we really need is a systemic overhaul of our food supply chain, not just more funding.

tell that to the families eating expired yoghurt mate. i'd take a 'lecture' over an empty stomach any day. typical know-it-all from the herald.
yeah nah get stuffed. who asked for a lecture. we need action not more thinkpieces from people who've never stepped foot in a food bank.
so instead of fixing the cost of living crisis that creates demand for food banks, we're just throwing money at the symptoms. classic.
spot on. same old story: treat the symptom, ignore the disease. they love having charities do the government's job for free.
well actually, the cost of living crisis is a global phenomenon exacerbated by supply chain issues and monetary policy. not simple to fix with a wave of a wand.
i work at a food rescue. we're literally turning away food because we can't afford the fuel to pick it up. make it make sense.
ffs, we're one of the wealthiest countries on earth. how is this even a conversation. where are our priorities.
