'Deliberately placed' rocks? Yeah nah someone's having a laugh. Hope they find who did it and make them sweep the entire path with a toothbrush.
yeah, but have you seen cyclists on that path? They act like it's the Tour de France. Slow down and maybe don't break a collarbone on a pebble.
you hear versions of this on site and in the office all the time.. everyone's gonna dogpile the crashes bit RNZ group chat is gonna go off. The direction is fine, but the rollout will matter more.
what a load of shit. this is why we can't have nice things in welly. always someone ruining it for everyone else.
oh here we go, blame the cyclists again. typical
cope. The path is fine, people are just careless.

This is exactly the kind of thing younger people notice quickly. The long game matters more than a quick headline cycle.
So a firefighter came off his bike? At least he knows how to handle emergencies I guess. But seriously, who does this? Absolute wanker behaviour.
yeah nah…
You notice this fast once it hits everyday routines. mate… of course
I walk this path almost every day and honestly the state of it sometimes... it's not just rocks, there's glass too. Council needs to step up their maintenance game. And cyclists need to slow down maybe?
agree. Tbh the council needs to install cameras. This is just going to happen again.
As a tradie I see this kind of petty vandalism all the time on site. People think it's funny to leave hazards lying around. Ffs it's a shared path, not a battlefield.
stuffed mate, this path cost millions and some idiot decides to sabotage it. Put some respect on the shared space.
bet it was the same person who's been putting tacks on the cycleway down south
Honestly just ban cars from the waterfront and give us more room for bikes and peds. This wouldnt happen if the path was wider and better lit
me guess, you drive a ute and park in the cycle lane?
I mean... maybe the rocks fell off a truck or something? But 'deliberately' sounds like someone has a bone to pick with cyclists. Bit extreme though lol
Hope the firefighter is okay. But also hope they find the person and charge them with something. This is just dangerous.
Six rocks though? That's not an accident. Someone took time to place them. What a pathetic hobby.
thought. They've got too much time on their hands. Probably the same person who steals those little reflector markers.
