Yeah nah this headline is wild. Christchurch was already cheap. Wellington still requires a kidney sale for a deposit unless you're buying a leaky unit in Newtown.
Working in construction. Can confirm materials cost more in Chch due to rebuild demand. Welly prices dropping cos no one wants to live in a wind tunnel with 3 outdoor power sockets per suburb.
exactly this. The 'affordability' is just a 2% drop in asking prices on mansions no one can afford anyway.
