Bumper year for toroa albatross chicks taking off

Otago's Pukekura/Taiaroa Head colony had a record breeding season for northern royal albatross, with 38 chicks fledging. The successful season was aided by good weather and conservation efforts, but threats like plastic pollution remain a concern for the species.
